Good mute and a very sound in all register.

The mute plays well - just the ideal sound, and all notes solid and in tune well down below pedal C. But the present-day mute is longer than they used to be and sticks out of the bell, so that the horn (Alex 103) won't fit in its case. A phone call to Paxman's advised me against filing the corks to make the mute go further into the bell since this might disturb the intonation or introduce bad notes. No obvious solution to the problem.

Good to see this older design available. I had one when I was a student, and have missed it. It arrived in time for a mute-heavy concert (Bartok Concerto for Orch) and did me proud. Reasonably priced, too.
