The Heart of the Matter is a sequence of music by Britten and readings, featuring the poems of Edith Sitwell. This publication contains the score and horn part of the three songs posthumously published in 1994 (Prologue, Song and Epilogue), together with a full historical note by Philip Reed and details of the Sitwell readings required for the performance of the full sequence.
